How pointing out what you do more clearly helps clients find you...

I wouldn’t even have understood the word ‘niching’ if I’d read it a few years ago, and when I did learn what it meant back in 2019, I resisted the idea.

Niching is all about getting really clear and specific about the products and services you provide, so that your prospective clients can find you more easily. It also helps those in your network explain more easily what it is you do, so they can recommend you to others.

So niching sounds a great idea, but I firmly believe that my coaching process will help anyone with any problem, so I was reluctant to cut out any potential clients by honing my message.

For those of you who aren’t aware, I had a miserable childhood which left me with trauma and very low self-esteem. This led me into abusive relationships with men in my teens and 20s, which compounded the damage done when I was little. I spent 15 years in a fug of depression, anxiety and PTSD, I was scared of everything and angry with everyone. I was difficult to be around because I trusted no-one and often misread situations in a negative way. Most of all, I was just miserable and full of despair that the rest of my life would be like this.

I was rescued by Neuro-Linguistic Programming, NLP has freed me from depression and anxiety and allowed me to heal the damage from the past. I never thought I could feel happy and confident again, learn to love and trust again and even run my own business – yet here I am! I just wanted to get the message out there and help the many others who are struggling with stress, anxiety, low confidence, loss of identity and I was worried about those potential clients thinking I wasn’t for them.

But what I’ve found is that most of my clients are women in mid-life with confidence and identity issues, peri-menopause, and/ or late-diagnosed neurodivergence, so I’m embracing that more as my niche now, to amplify my message. So here’s my niche –

I help women in mid-life, who’ve lost their confidence and identity, to let go of their baggage and limitations, love themselves more, and plan a wonderful next chapter’.

Yay! What's your niche?
